The control layer (German: Steuerungsebene) is the layer on which teams prioritize, compare, and decide — without replacing the upstream systems. Lexware remains the accounting source, Clockify remains the time tracking, Timebutler remains the source for approvals and absences. Above them sits Central Command as the command center.
In practice, the control layer means: a multi-instance dashboard, filters, statuses, sync transparency, and workflows such as PDF or invoice schedules. Data is consolidated and cached so that speed and API conservation go together. Decisions emerge from the situational picture; changes to vouchers continue to happen in Lexware.
Without a control layer, tab-hopping and Excel staging areas emerge. With it, the complexity of multiple tenants stays manageable. For agencies, holdings, and the Mittelstand in Germany, this is the core benefit: not yet another replacement system, but a clear command layer above the existing stack.
