Glossary — Central Command

A

Absence (Abwesenheit): Vacation, sick leave, and days off from Timebutler — usable for team overviews in Central Command.
Accounts & Credit Cards (Konten & Kreditkarten): Overviews of accounts and cards in the backend — complementing vouchers and incoming invoices.
Agencies (Agenturen): A typical target group of Central Command, with many Lexware tenants and parallel projects.
API-Key: Access secret for Lexware, Clockify, or Timebutler — securely stored in Central Command, never public.
Approval (Freigabe): Approval of absences or processes — often from Timebutler, relevant for capacity and planning.
Assignment (Zuordnung): Link between vouchers and/or time entries — manual or derived from sync logic.

Backend: Protected app area with login, dashboard, and settings — separate from the public website.
Basic Auth: HTTP basic authentication as an additional server-level access barrier in front of the app area.

Cache: Local intermediate storage of API data for fast dashboards without constant load on Lexware.
Capacity (Kapazität): Available team output in a period — influenced by time entries, absences, and running orders.
Central Command: Command center for Lexware instances, time entries, and approvals — the control layer above the System of Record.
Clockify: Time tracking system — connected to Central Command for reports, assignments, and delivery workflows.
Command Center: The concept of an operational control layer above multiple systems — the core idea of Central Command.
Control Layer (Steuerungsebene): The command layer above Lexware & co. — overview and prioritization without replacing the System of Record.
Cron: Time-driven background jobs for syncs, notifications, and delivery schedules.

Dashboard: The start view in the backend with metrics, charts, and voucher lists across one or many instances.
Down Payment Invoice (Anzahlungsrechnung): Lexware voucher type for down payments — feeds into voucher statuses and overviews in Central Command.

Employee Statistics (Mitarbeiterstatistik): Reports on performance and time entries — often with Clockify and voucher context in Central Command.

Filter: Narrowing lists and metrics by instance, status, period, or type — the core of steering.

Germany Focus (Deutschland-Fokus): Alignment with everyday German Lexware work, language, and Mittelstand processes — domain centralcommand.de.
Gmail OAuth: OAuth sign-in for Gmail API delivery instead of a classic SMTP password.
Gross (Brutto): Amount including VAT — in Central Command often the basis for revenue figures and chart displays.

Holdings: Corporate groups with multiple legal entities — typical multi-instance users of Central Command.

Incoming Invoice (Eingangsrechnung): Supplier invoice — in Central Command alongside outgoing vouchers for overview and processes.
Instance (Instanz): Short for Lexware instance: a connected Lexware account/tenant in Central Command.
Instance Filter (Instanzfilter): Restricting the dashboard and lists to one or more Lexware instances.
Invoice (Rechnung): Outgoing voucher in Lexware — trackable in Central Command as open, overdue, or paid.
Invoice Schedule (Rechnung-Zeitplan): Scheduled workflows around invoice delivery or processing from the backend.

JWT: JSON Web Token for backend sign-in — session protection after a successful login.

Lexware: Accounting and voucher system — the System of Record that Central Command connects to via the Public API.
Lexware Instance (Lexware-Instanz): An individual Lexware tenant or account with its own API access in Central Command.
Lexware Public API: Lexware's official interface for vouchers, contacts, and related resources.
Login: Sign-in to the protected backend — separate from the public marketing website.

Mittelstand: German companies with growing system complexity — a core target group alongside agencies and holdings.
Multi-Instance (Multi-Instanz): Operating multiple Lexware connections at the same time — the core value of Central Command.

Net (Netto): Amount excluding VAT — the counterpart to gross in voucher and revenue displays.

Offline Cache: Local data set that allows UI reads without live API calls — the foundation of many Central Command views.
Open Items (Offene Posten): Vouchers not yet completed or paid — central in the Central Command dashboard.
Order Confirmation (Auftragsbestätigung): Lexware voucher confirming an order — often the starting point for time entries, invoices, and assignments.
Overdue (Überfällig): Voucher status after the due date has passed — a high priority factor in the dashboard.

PDF Schedule (PDF-Zeitplan): Automated email delivery of PDF reports at defined times.

Quotation (Angebot): Lexware voucher type (quotation) for sales proposals — visible by status and instance in Central Command.

Rate Limit: Limit on API calls per time window — Central Command deliberately throttles requests.
Recurring Template: Lexware template for recurring invoices — visible in Central Command as a dedicated area.
Revenue (Umsatz): Metric from paid vouchers — often per instance and in year-over-year comparison in the dashboard.
Revenue Comparison (Umsatzvergleich): Comparing revenue across Lexware instances, periods, or statuses.
Roles (Rollen): Permission profiles in the backend — who may use dashboards, settings, or administrative functions.

SMTP: The classic email delivery channel for notifications and scheduled PDFs.
Studios: Creative and digital studios with project-based operations — often close to agency workflows and multi-tenant setups.
Sync: Reconciliation between upstream systems and the local cache — often via cron in the background.
Sync Watermark: Marker of sync progress — helps assess freshness and completeness.
System of Record: The authoritative source system for a data type — for vouchers, that is Lexware.

Tenant (Mandant): Organizational accounting unit — in Central Command often synonymous with a Lexware instance.
Timebutler: Tool for absences and vacation — connectable to Central Command for team overviews.

Voucher (Beleg): Umbrella term for Lexware documents such as invoice, quotation, or order confirmation.
Voucher Status (Belegstatus): The state of a Lexware voucher (open, paid, overdue…) — filtered and prioritized centrally.

Workflow: A repeatable process in the command center — such as PDF schedules, invoice delivery, or sync routines.
Workspace: Clockify workspace — the container for projects, time entries, and team access.
